Christmas doesnt have to be elaborate to be enjoyable. A simple BBQ or casual meal with family will do just fine - as will just one gift per person. Good music, good company and plenty of food is enough to keep most people happy.
It neednt be just a replay from the past. Suppose we caught up to the clearest understanding of the message of Jesus and by doing so change everything. When He said, Ask and it is given, it was literal and when we learn how this works you will wonder why it was you never were taught this at a younger age.
Christmas celebration is not a one day celebration. It is celebrated for a month. Preparation for the Christmas plays a vital role in the celebration. The houses are cleaned and white washed. The curtains and the older cloth are made new or changed. A Christmas tree is set up during this season.
When you hear a Christmas carol, you cant help but be reminded of those happy Christmas times during your childhood. What particular childhood memories are brought back every year? The ones you can think of are most likely the traditional ways of celebrating Christmas. Children these days will surely enjoy a few traditional holiday celebrations that your parents established yearly when you were young. Maybe you can decorate cookies with your kids. Maybe you can try to whip up a few treats with the help of your kids. There are always ways to recreate those special holiday family traditions and let your kids experience them.
If there is an annual holiday tree lane in your community, you can drive down the street each year and let your kids enjoy the sight of elaborately decorated houses and Christmas trees. If the weather permits, everyone can enjoy a stroll. The entire family can also get some inspiration here, about what decorations to hang on the tree back home. Making this part of the family tradition will let the kids see how other homes celebrate their Christmas.
If youre cooking for a lot of people, chances are your kitchen (and fridge) just wont be able to cope with the volume of food required. Not to mention, trying to cook and prepare everything yourself can be a huge burden. By delegating certain tasks or meals to different family members or friends, you can make your job much simpler. Let other family members take care of cold dishes like salads and desserts so you can focus on the hot dishes and save room in your kitchen. Remember, you dont have to do it all yourself - youre always entitled to ask for help from friends and family!
